JROTC COUGAR BATTALION

JROTC is a leadership training course that is designed to teach students how to be better citizens.

What does that mean?

We focus on teaching our cadets about responsibility, leadership, organization, listening skills, and other qualities that a leader needs to be effective in school and in the work place. We also try to instill decent human qualities in our cadets by teaching them the army values which are Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal courage. (LDRSHIP)

That’s not all!

We also show our students the effects of bad decision making when it comes to things they may encounter soon in life such as drugs, fellow student hostility, and domestic violence.

What we are not.

We are not an army preparatory class. We do not train cadets in military sciences nor do we enlist cadets into the military. Cadets are not required to enlist in any branch of military service upon completion of this course although if a cadet wishes to continue his/her military career in college, the cadet will start at a higher rank upon completion (4 classes) of this course.

 Who should take this course?

JROTC is one of the few classes designed to help everyone. It helps stem friendships to new and old students, it helps raise grades in confident and struggling students, and it better prepares all students for life, current and future.

JROTC/Healthful Living- Combined course only available to rising 9th graders.

I am an Army Junior ROTC Cadet.

I will always conduct myself to bring credit to my family, country, school and the Corps of Cadets.

I am loyal and patriotic. I am the future of the United States of America.

I do not lie, cheat or steal and will always be accountable for my actions and deeds.

I will always practice good citizenship and patriotism.

I will work hard to improve my mind and strengthen my body.

I will seek the mantel of leadership and stand prepared to uphold the Constitution and the American way of life.

May God grant me the strength to always live by this creed.

BC'S CORNER

" Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing."

-Anonymous

My mission for each cadet in the Cougar Battalion: Find the one thing we most fear. For some it's public speaking, while others, it's the tower at Fort Bragg. But whatever it is, we need to find this fear, and conquer it! As members of AJROTC, it is our duty and responsibility to help each other accomplish these goals. By assisting one another we become the united and the feared. After evolving into this united Battalion, there will be a foundation with sturdy stones that stand tall and proud. They will rise and forever stay, even when times change and commanders leave. To many this may sound ambiguous and trying; however, I know that we will not only accomplish but exceed this goal. At the end of this school year we will look back with pride at all we have achieved. So let's get ready to dominate this year!
